Welcome and Introduction

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you into the Olumawu family and give you an insight into our background and future.

Olumawu Nursery and Primary School was established in Abuja as a private school on January 22nd 1993 by a renowned educationalist Chief (Mrs) Margaret Audu of blessed memory, eight years after she had founded the first Olumawu Nursery and Primary School in Ilorin in 1983.
Chief Mrs. Margaret Audu was of royal ancestry, daughter of Olumawu and grandchild of His Royal Majesty Oba Gbayero Ajibohokun, Obaro of Kabba (1870 - 1923).
Olumawu Basic Education School is dedicated to the memory of the life and times of Princess Olumawu. Abuja of 1993 was practically without schools and for a long while, Olumawu was one of the few schools in the city. Hitting the ground running, with superlative performance of her pupils in the National Common Entrance Examinations and the inspiring extra-curricular activities the school soon acquired a solid reputation for academic excellence.
Following the introduction of the Universal Basic Education Programme, the school established a Junior Secondary School, which admitted its first students in September 2006.

We can proudly say that Olumawu is a well established ‘older generation of schools’ in Abuja offering:

  • a head start all round education
  • years of in-depth experience of education from Early Years through to Secondary
  • an impressive track record of outstanding academic performance and strong discipline
  • a focus on the achievement of excellence
