Clubs and Societies.
The school provides facilities for and supports a variety of clubs and societies to enrich school life and promote the development of latent skills and talents of our pupils/students.
Examples include:
Press/Drama, Music and Choral Group, French, Rhymes, JETS, Health and Environment, Guides/Brownies, Cubs/Scouts, Child Rights Brigade, Red Cross Society, Young Farmers' Club, Cultural Club, Home Makers, Chess Club.
Excursion and Visits
Excursions are regularly organised to further develop the skills and knowledge of the pupils/students and support their understanding of the curriculum and to ensure that they are aware of contemporary issues. Examples of excursions in the 2009/2010 academic year to date include:
- JSS1 Blue and JSS1 Gold visited Dan Sarki Farm, Kuje on Wednesday 10th + Thursday 11th November 2010 respectively.
- Selected pupils (5) from Primary 5 and primary 6 took part in the 2nd African Children and Youth Multi-Media Conference organised by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th November 2010.
- Tuesday 22nd February 2011 – Nursery Two pupils visited the Farmers’ market in Maitama.
- Thursday 5th May 2011 (for Red Cross Day – May 8th 2011) Red Cross held a workshop in school for members (pupils and staff)
- Thursday 26th May 2011 – Nursery One visited Park and Zoo to support work being done on Animals in the curriculum.
- Friday 27th May 2011 – Selected Brownies and members of the Red Cross took part in the Children’s Day March Past.
- Monday 6th June 2011 World Environment Day –invitation from the Federal Ministry of the Environment - selected students from JSS2 attended with others from SS1/SS2. The theme was ‘Forests – Nature at your service’
- Two resources persons from NDLEA visited the school to talk to primary 5 and 6 on drug abuse on Tuesday 14th June 2011.
- Selected students visited the Children’s home in Gishiri on Wednesday 15th June 2011 to present the gifts donated by parents.
- Five students from each JSS1 class and from JSS2 (15 in total) attended a cultural talk at the Korean Cultural Centre on Thursday 16th June 2011.
- Students from JSS1 and JSS2 (52 in total) attended the performance of African Cinderella (invitation from DPI as one of four chosen private schools) on Saturday 18th June 2011.
- Nursery 1 + 2 – Resource Persons from the Federal Road Safety Commission spoke on the topic of Road Safety - Thursday 13th October 2011.
- 6 Selected students – JSS attended the FCT and National Children’s parliament elections on Friday 7th October 2011.
- JSS1 Business Studies classes visited the Principal’s office on Friday 21st October 2011 to find out how an office works!
- 10 selected students from JSS attended the event in commemoration of the 2011 International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking on Tuesday 25th October 2011
- Muhammad Jafaar Gidado represented the school at the Jago Spelling Bees competition on Tuesday 1st November 2011.
- The prefects attended a leadership training programme ‘Leadership for Excellent Results’ run by Standard Mandate International on Tuesday 15th November 2011.
- JSS3 visited the National Sports Stadium on Monday 5th December 2011.
- 14 selected students from JSS2 attended a panel discussion on Gender and Volunteerism organised by the Women’s Foundation of Nigeria (WFN).
- JSS1 visited the Usman Dam on Monday 26th March 2012.
- JSS3 Agricultural Science Students visited Nagari Farms, Keffi on Tuesday 27th March 2012
Sporting Achievements
- 3rd Position - Super Bambinis football tournament – Friday 12th November 2010 at the German School. The competition was for those born in 2004 or later.
- 3rd position in the football competition organized by Funtaj International School – February 2011
- 2nd position Titsall International School Inter-house Sports Competition - Secondary Boys’ Relay – February 26th 2011.
- 2nd position - The Super-Bambinis team (born 2005 + 2006 or later) in a football competition organised by the German School on Friday 27th January 2012.
- 3rd position – Secondary Boys’ Relay Team – Deo Gratias International School inter-house sports competition, Saturday 25th February 2012
- 2nd position – Primary Girls’ Relay Team – Funtaj International School Inter-house sports competition, Saturday 25th February 2012.
- 2nd position – Secondary Girls’ Relay Team – Funtaj International School Inter-house sports competition, Saturday 25th February 2012.
- 3rd position – Primary Boys’ Relay Team – Funtaj International School Inter-house sports competition, Saturday 25th February 2012.
