The Wider Curriculum
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a range of extra-curricular activities relevant to their area of interest, skills and emerging talents.Extra-Curricular Events
Examples of Excursions and Visits include:- Thursday 23rd September 2010 - Selected students took part in an event organised by NAPTIP Fatima Gaya and Onyedikachi Chukwu presented poems they had written themselves about human trafficking.
- Monday 18th October 2010 - SS2 Agricultural Science Students visit to the Ajima Farms.
- Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd October 2010 – study tour to Yankari Game Reserve via the Panyan Volcanoes – 12 students from SS1 + SS2 participating together with 2 girls from JSS3.
- Saturday 30th October 2010 - Students had the opportunity to see a performance by the Jos Reparatory Company of Chinue Achebe’s ‘Things Fall Apart’ .
- Thursday 4th November 2010 - Students attended Vision 2020: Youth Empowerment and Restoration Initiative - 11th Career Counselling, Industry Awareness and Youth Empowerment workshop.
- Saturday 4th December 2010 - Nigeria@50 Poetry Competition – Prize Giving Concert – students who had written poems and other selected students were in attendance.
- World Environment Day - Invitation from the Federal Ministry of the Environment to present three poems of the occasion of the 2011 celebrations – June 6th 2011. The students were Fatima Gaya , Oshothenoya Sedi-Inwutube and Onyedikachi Chukwu. The theme was Forests: Nature at Your Service.
- A letter was received from the Canadian Embassy congratulating the students on their performance.
- Thursday 9th June – Saturday 11th June 2011 – excursion to Kainji Dam. Seventeen students were in attendance.
- Invitation to the National Space Research and Development agency to hear the annual Engr. Charles Mbanefo Lecture: ‘The role of Micro-Manufacturing Technology for Space Applications’ on Thursday 16th June 2011. Eleven Science students were in attendance.
- Tuesday 19th July 2011 – visit to the National Hospital.
- Four students from the College together with students from Junior Secondary represented the school at the FCT Children’s Parliamentary elections held on Friday 7th October 2011.
- SS2 + SS3 History students visited the national Museum and Monuments on Tuesday 25th October 2011.
- Thursday 10th November 2011 – SS1 attended the Vision 2020: Youth Empowerment and Restoration Initiative’s 13th Career Counseling, Industry Awareness and Youth Empowerment workshop on Thursday 10th November 2011 at the National Centre for Women Development.
- Study Tour to Obudu Cattle Ranch SS1 – SS3 Monday 5th December 2011 to Thursday 8th December 2011.
- SS1 students visited the Senate on Wednesday 22nd February 2012.
Special Events
